About this notice
LaTeXDesk provides online document editing, storage and PDF compilation. For privacy questions or requests, contact contact@latexdesk.com.
Information collected and how it is used
- Information you provide: account name, username, email, preferences, support messages and project content, including source files, assets and revisions.
- Information generated during use: compilation logs, PDFs, usage counters, IP addresses, browser information, security events and session cookies.
- Commerce information: orders, subscriptions, payment status and transaction references from WooCommerce and payment providers. Do not send card numbers to support.
We process this information to provide accounts and projects, compile documents, fulfil purchases, manage plan limits, investigate faults, prevent abuse and meet applicable legal obligations. Required account or payment information is necessary to provide the related feature. Optional sign-in and AI features can be avoided.
Google and ORCID
When you choose Google sign-in, the authentication integration uses profile information made available with your authorization, such as your name and email. When you choose ORCID, LaTeXDesk receives your ORCID iD and the name supplied by ORCID. We do not assume that ORCID supplies your email: first-time linking asks you to confirm an email using a six-digit code. The verified email can connect an existing account or create a new one. The ORCID iD is stored with the linked account so later ORCID sign-ins can access it. Contact support to request disconnection; disconnecting does not delete the account or its projects.
AI assistance
When you request AI assistance, relevant text and context are sent to OpenAI for processing. Depending on the action, this includes selected text and surrounding context, your instruction, file path, engine, or the current source file and compiler diagnostic. A hashed account identifier is also sent for safety purposes. Avoid submitting secrets or content you are not authorized to share. Ordinary editing does not require you to use AI assistance. Provider processing may occur outside your country.
Storage and service providers
Account and commerce records are held in the service database; project files and compiler outputs are held in service storage. Hosting, compilation, authentication, email, security, analytics, AI and payment providers process information as needed for their functions. We do not sell project content. Processing and access must have an applicable lawful basis, such as consent, performance of the service agreement or a legal obligation, as permitted by applicable law.
Retention and deletion
Information is retained for service delivery, security, legal record-keeping and dispute handling for as long as needed for those purposes. Deletion requests are reviewed against those needs. Removal from active storage does not necessarily remove restricted backup copies immediately. You may request account or project deletion by email; account deletion is not currently a self-service button. Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are separate requests.
Your rights and requests
Subject to applicable law, you may request information about processing, access, a readable copy, correction or deletion of your personal data, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Other rights may apply in your location. Email us with the subject “Privacy request.” We may verify account ownership without asking for your password. We will respond within applicable statutory deadlines and explain any lawful limits on your request. You may also complain to the competent data protection authority.
International processing and security
Providers may process data in other countries. Applicable transfer requirements and safeguards must be observed. Access controls and technical protections help protect information, but no system is risk-free. Do not upload passwords, private keys or unnecessary sensitive personal data. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
Updates
This notice may change as the service changes. Material changes will be communicated where required. See the Cookie Policy for browser storage information.
