Build confidently with LatexDesk
Practical guidance for the workspace and the LaTeX language, from a first document to multilingual projects.
Getting started
Create an account, open My projects, create a project, and select main.tex. Save a checkpoint before a substantial edit, then choose Compile to create the PDF preview.
Projects, files, and assets
Keep the root document in the project root or organize chapters in folders and include them with \input{chapters/introduction}. Upload PNG, JPEG, and PDF assets and reference them with paths relative to the compiling file. Never upload passwords, API keys, or other secrets.
Choose a LaTeX engine
pdfLaTeX is dependable for traditional packages and Latin text. XeLaTeX is the recommended starting point for Unicode, system fonts, and Arabic. LuaLaTeX also supports modern Unicode workflows and advanced Lua-based packages. The project remembers the selected engine.
Arabic documents
Select XeLaTeX and use fontspec, polyglossia, and a font such as Amiri. Avoid mixing legacy ArabTeX UTF-8 packages with a modern Unicode setup. Use \textarabic{...} for Arabic passages when English is the main language.
LaTeX basics
Structure content with \section and \subsection. Write inline mathematics between dollar signs and displayed equations in an equation environment. Use tabular for tables, graphicx with \includegraphics for images, and a .bib file for citations.
Compilation and AI review
Start with the first compiler error. Check the named file and line, unbalanced braces, missing packages, paths, and engine compatibility. AI suggestions are proposed changes, so review the focused diff before accepting. If repeated assistance cannot resolve the same error, LatexDesk stops spending further AI allowance for that attempt and directs you to manual support.
